Create an XML sitemap format that can be submitted to Google to help them crawl your website better.
What is “XML sitemap”?
By placing a formatted xml file with site map on your webserver, you enable Search Engine crawlers (like Google) to find out what pages are present and which have recently changed, and to crawl your site accordingly.
You Can also validate your site map by clicking here
Benefits
- we use the data in your Sitemap to learn about your site’s structure, which will allow Google to improve crawler schedule and do a better job crawling your site in the future.
- Submit it on your Google webmaster tools. This enables Google to provide you with useful status and statistical information.

Offsite Optimization
Posted on: January 21, 2008
We know that there are thousands of factors that determine your ranking.
Offsite optimization is one of the factor.
Offsite optimization contains:-
- Link Submission and Directory Submission
- Article Submission
- Press Release Submission
- Rss Submission
- Blog Submission
- Software Submission
* Link Submission and Directory Submission
One way link is major part to get higher ranking on your site. There are several ways to get one way links. We can get one way to submit our site on other directories.
* Article Submission
Submit article in different articles sites is the process for people to aware about sites about you and yours products. One major thing people forget to do is to add their back links on the articles sites. That will make a major difference. There are many sites accept html back links.
For example – www.ezienartilces.com
* Press Release Submission
Press Release submission is fastest way to introduce you and your products in the market. We can also add our site back links on those sites. To submit the news on different site with the back links we can get high number of visitors and ranking too. There are many sites accept html back links.
For example – www.indiaprwire.com
* Rss Submission
RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is the talk around the net these days because of its many benefits. An RSS Feed is the way that your information or content can be delivered instantly all over the web. To increase your web presence, promote your online business, and increase web traffic you should invest in providing an RSS feed for your blog or website.
For example – you may create a RSS feed about all articles on your web site.
Once you have set up your RSS feed you need to submit it to the many RSS feed Directories and submission site available to increase your exposure. Good examples of these are FeedForAll and Technorati.
* Blog Submission
Blogging is a way of collecting links to WebPages and sharing thoughts and ideas with people online. As well as text, blogs often contain audio, music, images and video.
Word Press is the most popular blogging platform. Many Web hosts make setting up a Word Press blog simple.
* Software submission
Choosing a software submission service is not without problems also. Software submission services that claim to submit to 1000′s of archives for only a small fee are cutting corners somewhere.

Robots.txt
Posted on: January 20, 2008
What is robots.txt
A text file present in the root directory of a site which is used to control which pages are indexed by a robot.
A robots.txt file provides restrictions to search engine robots (known as “bots”) that crawl the web. These bots are automated, and before they access pages of a site, they check to see if a robots.txt file exists that prevents them from accessing certain pages.
Creating the robots.txt file
There is nothing difficult about creating a basic robots.txt file. It can be created using notepad or whatever is your favorite text editor. Each entry has just two lines:
User-Agent: [Spider or Bot name]
Disallow: [Directory or File Name]
This line can be repeated for each directory or file you want to exclude, or for each spider or bot you want to exclude.
A few examples will make it clearer.
1. Exclude a file from an individual Search Engine
You have a file, privatefile.htm, in a directory called ‘private’ that you do not wish to be indexed by Google. You know that the spider that Google sends out is called ‘Googlebot’. You would add these lines to your robots.txt file:
User-Agent: Googlebot
Disallow: /private/privatefile.htm
2. Exclude a section of your site from all spiders and bots
You are building a new section to your site in a directory called ‘newsection’ and do not wish it to be indexed before you are finished. In this case you do not need to specify each robot that you wish to exclude, you can simply use a wildcard character, ‘*’, to exclude them all.
User-Agent: *
Disallow: /newsection/
Note that there is a forward slash at the beginning and end of the directory name, indicating that you do not want any files in that directory indexed.
3. Allow all spiders to index everything
Once again you can use the wildcard, ‘*’, to let all spiders know they are welcome. The second, disallow, line you just leave empty, that is your disallow from nowhere.
User-agent: *
Disallow:
4. Allow no spiders to index any part of your site
This requires just a tiny change from the command above – be careful!
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
If you use this command while building your site, don’t forget to remove it once your site is live!
How we can validate robots.txt file.
You can use the robots.txt analysis tool in Google webmaster tools to:
- Check specific URLs to see if your robots.txt file allows or blocks them.
- See if Googlebot had trouble parsing any lines in your robots.txt file.
- Test changes to your robots.txt file.
Traffic Estimator Tool
Posted on: January 20, 2008
Google’s added a new Traffic Estimator tool that lets you discover traffic for a term without having to actually add the term to an account or campaign. You can see clicks per day, average CPC, cost per day and average estimated position.
What information does the Traffic Estimator provide?
- Keywords/Minimum Bid
- Maximum CPC (Cost-per-click)
- Predicted Status
- Search Volume
- Estimated Avg. CPC
- Estimated Ad Positions
See traffic estimates based on an unlimited budget.
To see traffic estimates without the budget limit you’ve set at the campaign level, click ‘Show total potential clicks in the table below.’ The following two columns will be included with your estimates:
Clicks / Day: The number of clicks your ad may receive each day for this keyword.
Cost / Day: The average amount you may spend per day for this keyword.
Tips for Using Google’s Traffic Estimator for Keyword Research
Google’s traffic estimator tool by default is set to broad match. If you want to see an estimate of the value of a specific phrase remember to wrap it in [brackets] instead of just submitting the broad matched version of the keyword term. I just reprogrammed my keyword research tool’s traffic estimator link to include the broad, phrase, and exact match of each term. Since my tool is driven from Yahoo’s it strips the s in some plural phrases, so the link to the traffic estimator tool gives all 3 match types, and links to all 3 match types with an s appended to the end of of the keyword phrase.

Different Search Engine Means Different Algorithm
All search engines have their own algorithms to determine the ![]()
value and, therefore, positioning of websites. While the
majority of SEO work tends to concentrate on Google because of
the sheer weight of searches they receive it would be foolish to
discount or ignore the other major search engines. Yahoo is
considered one of the big three along with Google and MSN and by
concentrating a little more time and effort on Yahoo
optimization it is quite possible to gain a good amount of
traffic.
The Most Important Yahoo Optimization Factor
The first, and most pertinent point is that Yahoo judges content
to be the most important factor in their algorithms. They do
still consider inbound links and other factors but they are
attuned to the way of the content site and they love sites that
provide keyword-optimized content in large mass.
Yahoo is the second most important search engine and if you ask anyone in China, Yahoo is the #2 search engine only behind Baidu, and in that country Yahoo is very well represented and has great partners (like Alibaba.com) that keep them in the mindshare of Chinese internet users. Yahoo has about 14% of the UK market and I believe 25-30% of the US market. Its traffic is not to be ignored.
What are the differences between Yahoo and Google indexing algorithms?
Google focuses more on “off page? factors. Yahoo mostly on the “on page” (to be more exact: on site). MSN is positioned somewhere in between them.
This means that Yahoo places more attention on the internal web site aspects than on the external aspects.
Use of Links for Yahoo Optimization
Lots of SEO gurus say that Yahoo doesn’t place as much attention to the incoming links as Google does; but it seems that Yahoo does place attention if you have links from relevant sites like:
- eBay listings
- social network tags
- shopping feeds
- and in general sites related to your site’s niche.
Yahoo puts more attention in the internals of a site thus, a webmaster must have a very good internal linking structure, keeping in mind that the whole web site must be optimized for one or two good keywords and you will exploit these keywords or keyphrases through the internal linking structure.
How To Optimize For Yahoo Without Getting Penalized By Google
Google likes a density of around 2% and Yahoo likes a density as
high as 7% or even 8%. This means that you can effectively use 4
variations of a single keyword or phrase and a density of 2% for
each. This offers further advantages. With Google you are now
gearing your content towards four different keywords and
offering the level they want, and you are still providing Yahoo
with the much higher density rate that they require. Because you
can include plurals and further stems of keywords this means you
can write in a much more natural tone.
Regular, Fresh Content Is King
You’ve probably heard the saying that “content is king” and this
is even truer when considering Yahoo optimization. The more
content you provide the better. This may mean making regular
additions to your site but it will generate the kind of results
you are looking for. Blogs are also a very good way to continue
adding relevant content to your site that Yahoo will smile down
on.
Apple Breaks All Promises
Posted on: January 17, 2008
This post is open for all people who have a bad experience using apple mac book.
One of my colleague share his bad experience to using apple mac book.
Apple India Sucks and So Is Mac book – Check Why (by Pradeep Chopra)
I am an IIT Delhi graduate and an entrepreneur based in Delhi, India. Early last year, I started my 2nd venture and along with my two partners, I bought an Apple MacBook.
The main reason for which
I bought Apple MacBook was its reliability. I was very happy and excited when I started using Apple MacBook and as expected Mac’s design fascinated everyone around me. However, within the first few months, its battery broke suddenly . The same happened with one of my partners. It was shocking but we got the battery replaced.
Although we were not expecting any more failures, we were not so much worried about any potential failure as we paid for 3 years protection plan. Unfortunately, within next few weeks, I lost my address book and contacts due to a sudden data corruption on my Mac. It was a big loss in terms of the time and lost contacts but somehow I survived.
But, the real horror started after that. One fine day, my partner’s MacBook’s harddisk suddenly crashed and he lost all the data, except the one’s he had already backed up. The lost was irreparable and huge. Moreover, he wasted many days getting his MacBook’s hard disk replaced due to false promises and repeated delays on the service center’s front.
Given that we together lost the battery, I immediately took complete back up of my data. Although not desired but consistent to my expectations, my machine started showing symptoms of crashing; it started slowing down and hanging up in between. Since I didn’t want to waste more of my time, I called another service center, UC Infosys, one of Apple India’s service centers in Delhi. Having discussed the symptoms with them over the phone, I was told that I send my laptop to them and they will rectify it within 2-3 days. It was Dec 5, 2007 . After confirming the time with them I sent my person with the laptop to them. Having reached there, my guy was told to wait for 2 hours. I called them and confirmed with them that they will diagnose the problem after 2 hours. After two hours he was told that he should come again tomorrow, as their technical guy was not available. The guy went to them again the next day (Friday) and finally they diagnosed it and found that my MacBook’s harddisk is in trouble. They called me and promised to deliver the laptop by Monday. Since I didn’t receive any call from them I called them and I was told that the harddisk is in its way to Delhi from Bangalore and is stuck due to flight delay. I was told that my laptop will be ready to pickup on Tue by 2 pm. Again, in absence of any communication from them, I called them and I was told that I will need to wait for some more time. Being frustrated, I called their manager/founder and he told that we are expecting the MacBook’s harddisk and you may need to wait for a day or two more. I realized that these people are not taking the responsibility and for them their promise didn’t matter. As expected, once again, there was no communication from UC Infosys even after 3 days and moreover, the founder stopped picking my calls. So, I called Apple’s US office and I was told that I need to contact Apple’s support center in Bangalore only. I called the Bangalore center in Delhi and I spoke to a gentleman from Apple’s support in Austria. This guy told me a different story; he told me that 160 GB hard disk for MacBook is not available with them but they will deliver 200 GB hard disk as a compensation for the delay. I was promised the job to be done in next 3 days and I was promised that I would not need to make any call.
Having wasted so much of my time and energy, I was finally expecting the job to be done. At this point, I knew that Apple’s service sucks but I didn’t expect them to treat their customers as people on the road. Contrary to my expectations, I didn’t receive any responsef. I again called them and escalated the complaint to a senior manager. I wanted to talk to the head of Apple India but I was not given any details and was told that I am already talking to the key decision maker. She promised me to get back to me with exact status and committed to sort the issue immediately. But the bug didn’t stop there… even then I didn’t receive any communication.
At that point I decided to take this route of going through the social media. As part of my organization, I had to work on a critical, 2 week long assignment. So I had to be silent for that period. Today it is Jan 17th; 43 days have passed and no communication from Apple. I am anyways not interested in their machine and Apple’s service. But I will do everything it takes on my end to get compensated for the loss Apple made to my organization and to me. More important, I don’t want some other Apple’s fans and users to fall in the same trap. I am sure that someone responsible (who cares for his customers) at Apple will hear it and take appropriate actions. Till then I am not going to stop… My Apple case id is 88611362 & I can be reached at chopra.pradeep (at) gmail (dot) com.
